Have you seen the news on what is going on between the governments of Colombia, Ecuador and Venezuela? Go here and here to catch up if you haven't. There may be tumultuous times ahead for those living in these countries. We need to be praying.
Do you look at these types of developments through the lens of spiritual warfare? Could there be something of significance going on in the heavenly realms? I think there almost always is.
For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Ephesians 6:12
There is a strong missionary movement among the church in Latin America. Many Latinos are answering God's call to go to the hard places; places in the 10/40 Window. This is a wonderful movement and it is something we need to cover in prayer.
Joshua Project has some great information on Colombia, Ecuador and Venezuela. Please join me in praying for God's Kingdom to come in this situation...

I've been meaning to tell you, I think you should get out more often and see a bit of the world... :)
Here's another picture that popped in my head. Perhaps the wrestling takes place with the spiritual forces and the serving/loving/etc. takes place with the flesh and blood. We do not wrestle with flesh and blood. I think many situations are made worse because 1)we wrestle against flesh and blood rather than humbling ourselves to serve and love and 2)we fail to wrestle against spiritual forces. We have to wrestle with the spiritual forces, and we have to love one another.
I know that I am guilty both of trying to wrestle flesh and blood (fixing the problem myslef) and of failing to wrestle the spiritual forces (trusting in faith by prayer). Am I making sense or is it all mumbling?

Kimberly,
Yes, I see that picture and agree.
I should have been more clear in my call to prayer. We need to pray. We always need to pray. But, we must be willing to go and to love and serve. The two go hand in hand. If we go without praying, we are operating in the flesh, apart from Jesus. He told us that apart from him we can do nothing... (John 15:5). If we pray without going, or at least being willing to go, then I think it is the same situation...
Thanks for pointing out a shortcoming in my call to prayer. I promise it was unintentional...

for the record, my post was prompted by the Cali critique, not the call to prayer here. I was inspired by your post & the post on YAR. But, when I came across the LAM article, that is when I started formulating my questions. I know that faith and deeds coexist here... and I am thankful for the example. (Hey... it's SNOWING!!!)

I understand, but, I did read back through my call to prayer and it did have a hyper-charismatic flare to it, which was not my intention. So, thanks again. Good thoughts for all of us, even though they are a bit circular...
Yes, it is snowing. Grant is outside already, hoping to make a snowman and begging me to come out and play in the less than a quarter of an inch that has accumulated so far. I guess that is what dads are for...

Ines,
I think I read that Nicaragua pulled their diplomats out as well. Hopefully, things won't get out of hand...
